Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is a singer from Barranquilla Colombia. She started writing poetry at the age of four. Her name Shakira means thankful in Arabic. She has infused her music with the Arabic music by belly dancing and using the traditional Arabic drum the doumbek. She sings in both spanish and english. She is a very successful women she has received many Grammy and Latin Grammy awards. She performed for the finally of the 2010 world cup Spain vs Holand. She performed a song called waka waka.
I lover her song Waka Waka! I learned so much about the World Cup this year and when I heard her song I was very excited! Four is a crazy young age to start your career at! I had no idea she had such a long and intense name, nor did know about her Arabic background and interests. I enjoy Shakira's music and her dancing. She is a very talented performer!

ReplyDeleteShe has such a unique voice which I really appreciate! I get so tired of hearing the same sound especially in the music world today. I enjoys Shakira's sound very much. I know it's a weird connection, but I enjoy big band music and the artists from the 40's. I like how you can pick out one voice from another's. I like that you can tell it's Shakira and no one else :)
